Internet Justice

A friend of mine recently lost a job opportunity because a background check unveiled some "security issues," which, given his somewhat placid demeanor could only mean that someone had found his pointed, and sometimes critically opinionated blog. It reminded me of how nothing is private anymore on the internet. You have a Myspace profile? It's public record. Ever posted to a Yahoo group with your email address or name? It's in the beast of the Internet forevermore, being archived and stored by such entities as The Internet Archive

But THIS is perhaps the best example of how this information and the Internet community can act together to make things right.

Turns out a guy left his cell phone in a cab in NYC. He was surprised when later he started seeing photos and AOL stuff coming onto his online server from the phone. The rest...well, you should read the story...and get that insurance policy on your Cell.
